WHY THIS TOUR?
Capture the essence of Hong Kong Island on this half-day tour. Many of the iconic images associated with Hong Kong come from here – glitzy skyscrapers, opulent hotels, legendary landmarks and looming mountains. Central district, which runs along the north shore, is the beating heart of the island.
This is a hub for business, politics and finance, and also showcases grand colonial architecture. In the shadow of Central’s high rises lies Sheung Wan, an area with a salubrious past. These days it’s a colourful, bustling area packed full of traditional stores, antique shops and markets. And of course, overlooking all this is the Peak, Hong Kong’s most spectacular viewpoint with views of one of the best skylines in the world.
TRAIL ITINERARY
08:30 - 16:00
After meeting the guide at your hotel, take the MTR subway to the Central district. Wander through this dynamic area gazing up at heritage buildings, colonial landmarks, elaborate churches and soaring glass and steel financial towers.
You will then take a walk to Admiralty for an unforgettable ride up Victoria Peak on the Peak Tram, one of the world’s oldest funicular railways that dates back to 1888. The ascent is so steep that the buildings you glide past appear to tilt at impossible angles. At 400 metres above sea level, Victoria Peak is the highest point on the island. The summit provides a stunning bird’s-eye view of Victoria Harbour, the Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong Island sprawling below.
A double-decker public bus will transport you back into the city, followed by a tram ride to Sheung Wan district. A unique feature here is the escalator, once ranked the longest in the world. The covered stairway traverses an elevation of over 135 metres from bottom to top in the SoHo neighbourhood, home to restaurants, bars, nightclubs and art galleries.
At Hollywood Road, wander past curio and antique shops selling pottery, jewellery, ornaments, coins and carvings. After all the walking, treat your achy feet to a rejuvenating 50-minute foot massage.
Our final stop of the tour is at a tea workshop to learn all about the different types of Chinese teas. After a refreshing cup of tea, you will return to your hotel.
