WHY THIS TOUR?
Capture the essence of Hong Kong Island on this half-day tour. Many of the iconic images associated with Hong Kong come from here – glitzy skyscrapers, opulent hotels, legendary landmarks and looming mountains. Overlooking all this is Victoria Peak, Hong Kong’s most spectacular viewpoint with a vista of one of the best skylines in the world.
In the southern part of the island lies Repulse Bay, one of the most expensive residential areas in the world. Also on the southern side of the island is the harbour town of Aberdeen, famous for being the place where Hong Kong boat people lived in the 1960s and 1970s.
TRAIL ITINERARY
09:00 - 14:00
The guide and driver will collect you from the hotel and take you to Victoria Peak, the highest hill on Hong Kong Island. This renowned peak is only 552 metres-high, but it provides a bird’s-eye view of Victoria Harbour, the Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong Island. Looking down onto the tops of skyscrapers is an incredible sight. To reach the Peak, there is the option to take the 100-year-old Peak Tram, one of the world’s oldest funicular railways that dates back to 1888. The ascent is so steep that the buildings you glide past appear to tilt at impossible angles.
You will also visit Repulse Bay, a well-to-do residential area with a relaxed, resort-like atmosphere. The wide beach is popular with residents and it is great for sandy strolls. You will see the Life Guard Club built in a traditional Chinese style and featuring statues of Kwun Yum and Tin Hau – the traditional protectors of fishermen.
The tour continues to Aberdeen Fishing Village, home to hundreds of boat people living on fishing junks. The picturesque harbour that is full of yachts, sampans, junks and houseboats is framed by a modern high-rise community. There is the option to take a 20-minute sampan ride to get a close-up look at the traditional lifestyle of the floating fishing community. Lunch is not included during this tour however your guide for the morning certainly can make some suggestions.
At the end of the tour, the driver will take you back to the hotel.
