A Sidecar Exploration of Beijing
A Sidecar Exploration
of Beijing
Beijing is brimming with life, and this electrifying ride through its streets brings forward
an unforgettable experience of all senses. Riding aboard a sidecar to watch the capital’s
most recognisable landmarks just adds a whole new level of exploration.
WHY THIS TOUR?
The art of navigating through the streets of Beijing is an art form; doing this on board a vintage motorcycle with a sidecar is taking cool to a whole new level. Throwing away the window glare for a motorized, open-aired experience of China’s capital has been lauded as an authentic means to see the sights and hear the sounds of this diverse city differently.
Called “Kuazi”, these sidecar motorcycles sit back, relax and let your professional driver zigzag on three wheels from Beijing monument to monument. What you will experience during this half-day tour will remain forever with you.
TRAIL ITINERARY
18:00 - 20:30
Just as keen to start this side-car journey as you may be, the morning commences with seeing these vintage 1930s BMW Kuazis parked at a central meeting point in Beijing. With space for two per sidecar, venturing off into exploration mode commences right after being comfortably seated in the sidecar. These unique means of transportation were originally built in Russia before production was transferred over to China. Although the models used for this excursion date back to the 1980s/1990s to adhere to modern road and safety standards, the characteristics and outlines of this motorcycle remain in place. The planned route encapsulates all the essentials of what makes Beijing such a powerhouse of history, culture, and with its eyes towards the future.
During this 2-hour ride, you will see the thriving city centre with its modern skyline, interspersed with more ancient quarters and districts where the hues of the city’s dynasty still flow in abundance. Through a carefully inspected route, sights such as the shining dome of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the famous hutongs and the bustling-with-life Sanlitun neighbourhood, the journey will include various stops for photos, leg stretching and listening to the stories behind each of these must-see Beijing landmarks.
Circumventing the city centre, the tour ends back at the central meeting point before you make your way back to your hotel in Beijing on your arrangement.
