Soul of Thailand
Soul of Thailand
In collaboration with a local community and temple, Asian Trails offers a unique, soulful experience in Thailand that combines a spiritual blessing with a canal tour.
After travelling by boat through Bangkok’s quiet canals, guests arrive at a rarely-seen temple hidden in a quiet neighbourhood of Bangkok. Here, guests take part in a sangkatan ceremony, which involves giving an offering of food and daily necessities to the monks. A premium and sustainable offering package is prepared by Asian Trails.
After the ceremony, the head monk blesses participants with holy water and presents each participant with a holy bracelet called a sai sin which is said to bring the bearer good luck.
The offering package can be branded for corporate clients and the activity can be enhanced with special services such as a snack corner with a water refill station for a sustainable event. A surprise gift of floral garlands can be presented to guests by ladies in traditional Thai costumes. Another alternative is for guests to donate food for street dogs and cats which are cared for by the temple and the local community.
This authentic, deeply personal and memorable experience offers a true insight into Thai culture and Buddhism. Accommodating up to 40 people, this activity is the perfect addition to a canal tour of Bangkok and it can also be combined with a classic city and temple tour.
