Witness a unique marine life event
Every year, a miracle of marine life unfolds on Con Dao, an island off Vietnam’s South-East coast.
Con Dao National Park, renowned for its pristine beaches and rich biodiversity, serves as a vital breeding ground for sea turtles. Visitors can witness the incredible moment these creatures hatch and make their way to the ocean for the very first time.
The turtle sanctuary on the island has made remarkable progress in protecting these endangered animals. Over 14 turtle nests have been rescued and over 1,900 hatchlings have been successfully released into the sea.
Two species, the Green Sea Turtle and the Olive Ridley, are frequently spotted, with the sanctuary boasting an impressive 76.8 per cent hatching success rate. A recent milestone includes the placement of a tracking device on a new mother turtle, allowing scientists to track her journey and learn more about migration patterns.
During a stay at Six Senses Con Dao, guests can enjoy immersive turtle experiences throughout the year. The peak breeding season runs from June to October. Baby turtle releases are most observed between May and December, while the best time to witness mother turtles nesting is from April to October.
