Visionary idea helps blind employees
Noir restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City has taken the ‘dining in the dark’ concept a step further and added a social responsibility component.
The experience in which a customer is served a multi-course dinner in a pitch black room in order to heighten their sense of taste has been expanded to provide employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired people.
The restaurant is providing training opportunities for those with special needs so they can earn a living as hospitality staff. Their impairment provides them with an ability to walk more freely in a light-free room compared to a sighted person.
Employees are also taught foreign languages as the restaurant gains popularity with tourists. Asian Trails’ Vietnam is using this venue on multiple city excursions.
