Vietnam’s biggest domestic terminal due

The newly constructed Terminal T3 at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport is set to officially open on 30 April, 2025.

The launch coincides with Reunification Day, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s unification when North and South Vietnam reunited in 1975. With a capacity to handle up to 20 million passengers annually, the US$445 million building will be the country’s largest domestic terminal.

Domestic flights operated by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air will depart from Terminal T3. Other domestic carriers – Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO – will continue operating from Terminal T1.

T3 features 90 check-in counters, 20 automated bag drop stations and 42 self-service kiosks. Of its 27 boarding gates, 13 are equipped with air bridges and 14 are accessed via shuttle buses. Enhanced security measures include 25 screening checkpoints and eight advanced scanning gates. A dedicated VIP and business-class lounge is available.

Travellers are advised to confirm their terminal with their airline prior to travel, as terminals T1, T2 and T3 are located in separate buildings. The transit time between the terminals is approximately 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. A shuttle bus will run between the terminals every 10 to 20 minutes, with taxis and ride-hailing options also available. For up to date travel advice, reach out to our team at Asian Trails Vietnam
