New modern museum reveals Vietnam’s military history
Vietnam recently unveiled its new Museum of Military History in Hanoi’s Nam Tu Liem District. The state-of-the-art facility has been under construction since 2019 and it houses over 150,000 artefacts and wartime exhibits, such as tanks and aircraft. These are displayed in a series of indoor and outdoor galleries that span an expansive 386,000 sq-m.
The museum narrates Vietnam’s military heritage, showcasing weapons and equipment used during the resistance against French colonialism and American forces, as well as training and defence tools. The museum contains four national treasures and rare items across six themed galleries that highlight the country’s military evolution from its early history to the present.
Innovative features include interactive displays with 3D mapping technology, QR codes for information and audio guides and more than 60 video exhibits. A striking 45-metre Victory Tower is an architectural highlight that serves as a grand entrance to the museum.
