Vang Vieng set to become Laos’ first tourism town
As part of a government initiative to make Vang Vieng the country’s official tourism town, a series of infrastructure and road upgrades are underway in this destination north of the capital Vientiane.
Nestled in a scenic bend in the Nam Song River, Vang Vieng is Laos’ premier eco-tourism destination. It is surrounded by towering limestone karsts and an extensive network of tunnels and caves. The surrounding environment offers a wealth of adventure pursuits, including rock-climbing, trekking, cycling and kayaking.
The project includes improved access routes to attractions such as Kaeng Nyui Waterfall, a new bridge across the Nam Song River and upgrades to roads on the western side of this waterway.
