Thailand team performs beach clean-up
Asian Trails’ staff based in Krabi province, Southern Thailand spent a day planting mangroves to rejuvenate a marine environment threatened by overexposure to harmful human activities. Mangroves are critical to the survival of many species, including snakes, birds, crabs and monkeys and replenishing ensures a healthy balance of nature.
Our team visited Koh Klang, a small island located five minutes away from Krabi town by long-tail boat, where they engaged with locals who run a community-based tourism (CBT) project that provides visitors with an insight into life in a remote Muslim community and the opportunity to help with sustainable tourism activities. Besides planting mangroves, our corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity also involved removing waste and abundant driftwood from Haad Yao Beach. The wood was donated to local people for fuel.
Our seven staff who participated in this CSR activity set an example of how a small gesture can be the start of a big change to protect an idyllic stretch of coast in beautiful Krabi province
