Silent request secures better futures in Vietnam
Silent request secures better futures in Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City’s Blanc Restaurant is a unique venture that gives deaf and hearing-impaired people the chance to make a living wage.
Like many of the marginalised, these people face a major challenge to access education, community integration and meaningful employment. Approximately 65 to 70 per cent of the deaf are listed as unemployed in Vietnam and those that do find work are often confined to factory positions. Blanc’s catering team has created a menu packed with passion and creativity.
A unique feature is that diners are invited to make reference to a guide book and use sign language when ordering from the serving staff.
