Saving turtles and cleaning beaches on Hon Cau island
Hon Cau island, a 40-minute boat ride from Ninh Thuan coast in South Central Vietnam, is known for its clear waters and white sandy beaches. Recently the island gained recognition for the rescue of sea turtles and as one of Vietnam’s leading conservation centre for these marine creatures.
Local conservationists have integrated their daily work with an educational and clean-up programme to keep the sea turtle population on non-extinction levels.
Asian Trails Vietnam has a full day programme that includes a guided tour of the island, visit to a ‘turtle home’, watch the conservation work and help with beach cleaning.
