Online approach to saving Malaysia’s turtles
The driving force behind the protection of turtles around Terengganu, East Malaysia, has devised an innovative virtual show to raise awareness about its mission.
The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) has created a one-hour cyberspace tour to take guests around its sanctuary. The ‘excursion’ showcases over nine types of freshwater turtle specimens, the terrapin hatchery and it ends with a Q&A session. TCS was founded in 2011 and it is the first non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of freshwater turtles in Malaysia.
TCS aims to aid the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, particularly freshwater species, through research, conservation and public awareness programmes.
