Lotus tea and handicrafts in Siem Reap
Beyond the treasured temples of Angkor, Cambodia’s Siem Reap province offers a myriad of engaging cultural attractions for travellers. Among them is Asian Trails’ new lotus handicraft experience, an activity which combines sustainable horticulture with traditional cuisine and hands-on craft activities.
Our two- to three-hour programmes include a boat ride through the lotus fields for close-up views of the sacred blossoms. Along the way, guests learn how the flowers are harvested and spun to create eco-friendly textiles. The Lotus Farm also provides a sustainable source of income for women in Cambodia.
After the boat ride, guests can taste the farm’s own lotus biscuits and tea, which are made using timeless traditions passed down through the generations. Guests can also try their hand at lotus spinning and create their own lotus crafts, such as lotus paper, lotus incense, lotus seed bracelets, lotus soap and lotus moon cakes.
The Lotus Farm is located on the outskirts of Siem Reap and is easily accessible on the road to Phnom Krom and Tonle Sap Lake. The venue can accommodate up to 60 guests at a time, with seating available in the panoramic tea lounge or the tropical garden.
