Laos government announces new Vientiane-Pakse expressway
Travelling across Laos is going to get a whole lot easier thanks to ongoing infrastructure projects.
Only seven months after the opening of the very first expressway in the country – the December 2020 start of the Vientiane-Vang Vieng link – the government has approved route selection for a new road connection that will link the capital Vientiane with the southern city of Pakse.
The 578-km highway is part of the National Socio-Economic Development Plan, an extensive state-wide transportation upgrade comprising of rail and road projects. Due to a challenging mountainous landscape and a previous lack of development, Laos has had limited national transportation routes.
