Dinawan – a tropical island getaway
Dinawan – a tropical island getaway
Dinawan is a perfect tropical island getaway off the west coast of Sabah state. The name is inspired by the island’s oldest resident – a 40-feet banyan tree. Besides this towering natural landmark, rich flora and fauna abounds elsewhere. This includes flourishing reefs and colourful fish which can be viewed just off the beach and a shaded tree canopy, easily explored on a leisurely stroll into the interior jungle.
Whether it’s for a day trip or an overnight stay, Asian Trails offers memorable, nature-inspired experiences at Dinawan Island. For a day trip, guests can travel by boat to explore vibrant coral gardens and aquatic life at some of the best snorkelling spots in the area.
For those who choose to extend their stay, we can arrange rewarding CSR activities on the island, such as seaweed and seagrass cultivation, coral replanting and turtle and shark protection initiatives. Other leisure pursuits include kayaking, fishing and diving. Guests bed down in rustic glamping tents – an accommodation style that reflects the island’s eco-lifestyle vibe.
A trip to Dinawan can be combined with Kota Kinabalu packages as the provincial capital is only a 30-minute drive from the boat jetty. April to September is the ideal time to visit, when the weather is perfect for outdoor adventures and guests can escape to a more relaxed way of life.
