Luxury river cruises by Anantara Chiang Mai
Anantara Chiang Mai now offers a series of luxury river cruises to complement its high-end accommodation. Two hand-crafted teak vessels – the Nam Jai and Nam Jit – set sail multiple times per day, delivering varied cultural and dining experiences along the way.
Seating up to eight passengers, the Nam Jai takes guests on a morning cruise to Wat Ket Karam, one of Chiang Mai’s oldest communities. The excursion offers a glimpse of the city’s Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Hindu and Sikh neighbourhoods living side by side and a chance to taste delicious dumplings at a local institution that was recently awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand status.
The Nam Jai departs again at twilight, drifting past iconic bridges and temples on an evening adventure with free-flow canapes and cocktails on board.
Anantara’s signature afternoon tea experience is served on board the Nam Jit, a larger pontoon designed for more elaborate dining occasions. The on-board bar and dining area seats up to 24 passengers, although the vessel can host up to 40 passengers on a private charter.
The daily dinner cruise on the Nam Jit is also a sumptuous affair. A four-course meal of royal Thai cuisine is served with free-flow drinks and guests can indulge in crafted cocktails by a talented mixologist at the bar. The Nam Jai and Nam Jit cruises depart daily from the resort’s private pier on the Mae Ping River.
