Engaging with a community in Phuket

Asian Trails’ MICE and Product Manager for South Thailand, Phaitoon Pantip, had the opportunity to experience a community-based tourism programme in Phuket. The event was organised by the Phuket Provincial Tourism and Sports Office to showcase the traditions, cuisine and local customs of Koh Thalang, a district in the island’s north.

It was a great opportunity for Phaitoon to experience community life, brush up on his Thai boxing skills at a Muay Thai gym and practice Thai cooking in an idyllic coconut garden. The day involved several fun, active pursuits, including a short hike to a national park and catching sea cicadas, an experience unique to the Mai Khao beach area.

Designed to minimise environmental impacts and maximise positive outcomes for the community, the activities and programmes here can be fully customised and crafted to meet the needs of Asian Trails’ guests.
