More ports added to China’s visa-free transit scheme
China has expanded its 144-hour visa-free transit policy to three more entry ports, bringing the total number of ports to 37. The three new ports are Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, Mohan Railway Port and Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport.
This policy change allows citizens of 54 countries to explore more corners of the country without having to obtain a visa in advance. Eligible travellers can visit Zhengzhou, the provincial capital of Henan, as well as tourism hotspots in Yunnan province such as Lijiang, Dali and Xishuangbanna.
Under the visa-free transit policy, travellers must stay within designated regions, show proof of onward travel to a third country and depart within 144 hours of arrival.
Ports and cities previously included in the visa-free transit scheme include Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shandong, Liaoning, Chengdu, Kunming, Xi’an, Chongqing, Xiamen and Wuhan.
The expanded visa-free transit policy offers travellers a fantastic opportunity to explore China’s captivating beauty, vibrant culture and rich history. Short journeys to the UNESCO-listed Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, the Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng and other historical gems are now more accessible for travellers.
