Cat Ba Archipelago and Lan Ha Bay to introduce new entrance fee
Starting from 1 August 2024, visitors to Northern Vietnam will be required to pay an entrance fee when visiting sites within the Cat Ba Archipelago, including overnight cruises in Lan Ha Bay.
The fee will help to fund conservation efforts, improve infrastructure and enhance visitor experiences, ensuring that the bay’s natural wonders remain accessible for future generations to enjoy.
Adults planning a day visit to the archipelago will be required to pay an entrance fee of 120,000 Vietnamese Dong (USD$5). An accommodation fee will apply for overnight cruises in Lan Ha Bay, charged at 400,000 Vietnamese Dong (USD$16) for one night or 600,000 Vietnamese Dong (USD$24) for two nights. Children aged six to 11 with a height below 1.2 metres will be charged 50 per cent of the adult rate.
The tiered pricing structure for overnight stays encourages longer, more immersive visits, which aligns with the destination’s long-term sustainability goals.
This new entrance fee will impact the cost of tours that visit Cat Ba National Park, Lan Ha Bay and other caves and attractions located within the Hai Phong City area. Overnight cruises in nearby Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay are not affected.
