New tour reveals Borneo’s tapestry of cultures

From the fascinating world of Shamanism to traditional Sarawak crafts and Iban tattoos, the Borneo Cultures Museum presents a unique insight into the rich tapestry of Malaysia’s ethnic cultures.

Through interactive and multisensory displays, the museum tells the story of Borneo and its people, from prehistoric times to the formation of Malaysia in the 1960s. Visitors learn about ancient spiritual practices and their importance in shaping a community, as well as centuries-old agricultural wisdom. The upper floor is dedicated to Sarawak’s artisans and their unique handicrafts.

The exhibits are thoughtfully displayed across five floors in the largest museum in Malaysia and the second largest in South-East Asia. Asian Trails’ guests can experience the Borneo Cultures Museum on our new Kuching Walkabout, which provides an overview of Kuching’s historical and architectural highlights.
