Authentic Cambodian cuisine revealed at rural retreat
Experience rural life on an Asian Trails’ excursion to a quaint village situated way off the tourist trail. Kompheim village, meaning ‘lady bug’ in the Cambodian language, is the perfect place to absorb country living and learn how to make authentic cuisine in a beautiful traditional Khmer-style house.
This farming community is situated 16 km from Siem Reap, the gateway to the temples of Angkor. The activity includes a short walk around the village to meet with local residents and view organic gardens. The interaction will reveal superstitions and local beliefs. The tour is spontaneous, so visitors may encounter a local ceremony, or an impromptu lively village event. The highlight is the interactive cooking class, conducted in individual workstations. Even better, all of the cooked dishes are enjoyed before the transfer back to the hotel.
