AirAsia unveils new routes
AirAsia Thailand is set to expand its international network with the launch of several new routes over the coming months. The rapid growth will open up new possibilities for travel, with a focus on fostering ties between Thailand, India and other ASEAN countries.
From 27 October 2024, the low-cost carrier will begin services between Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport and Hyderabad, India, with four scheduled flights per week.
On the same day, the airline will launch two additional flights between India and Phuket, giving travellers a more direct route to Southern Thailand’s idyllic islands and beaches. Flights from Kolkata to Phuket will depart daily, while the Chennai-Phuket route will operate three times per week.
AirAsia Thailand now offers several flights per week to 12 cities in India, including Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Bangalore, Gaya, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirappalli and Hyderabad.
Two days later, on 29 October 2024, the airline will take off from Phuket and fly to Siem Reap, Cambodia. This route will operate three times per week.
Asian Trails’ travellers can now explore more routes across the region as travel becomes easier and more cost effective. After exploring the ancient temples of Angkor in Siem Reap, guests can fly directly to the azure waters of Phuket for a relaxing beach stay.
These announcements come after the airline launched direct flights from Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport to Vietnam’s resort island of Phu Quoc earlier in July 2024. Additional routes are expected to be unveiled in August.
The airline’s rapid growth in the region is seen as a response to rising demand for travel within the region, which has been partly fuelled by the expansion of visa-free travel arrangements for travellers to Thailand.
