A restaurant with heart in Luang Prabang
Dinners who visit Kaiphaen Restaurant in the former royal capital of Luang Prabang help to change lives through their patronage.
This vocational training restaurant is run by Peuan Mit, an NGO that helps the needy, including street children, gain access to an education and better employment prospects. Named after a popular local snack created from crispy Mekong River weed and sesame seeds, Kaiphaen offers classic Laotian favourites, including lemongrass sausages, khao poon (spicy noodle soup) and Western-style dishes with a twist, such as Beer Lao battered fish and chips.
The quaint eatery is located close to the Mekong River in this UNESCO recognised town, the country’s biggest tourism destination
