A celebration of lanterns in Hanoi

From now until 16 March 2025, Hanoi will come alive with a stunning display of light and art for the inaugural Ocean International Lantern Festival.

The venue in Ocean City, East Hanoi, will feature lantern-inspired art installations, alongside a lantern-making competition where local artisans showcase their creative craftsmanship.

The displays highlight the vibrant interplay between art, culture and community, blending tradition with innovation. One of the highlights is an award-winning lantern by Hoi An Craft. Made from water coconut tree paper, this is a testament to the ingenuity of Vietnamese creators.

Asian Trails’ guests can experience this unique event in a variety of ways. One option is an afternoon excursion, which includes a visit to Bat Trang Pottery Village, followed by a culinary experience and dinner at a historical house, before heading to the lantern festival.

For those on an overnight Halong Bay cruise, the lantern festival can be added as an evening excursion after disembarking from the cruise.
