Asian Trails marks 25 years in Myanmar
Asian Trails recently recognised a quarter-century of operations in Myanmar with three days of sustainability-themed activities.
The event included staff participation in a fascinating workshop hosted by the Yangon YWCA. This focused on repurposing waste materials into stylish office supplies, such as personalised paper bags and unique pen holders. The team also received training on how to incorporate sustainability into the office environment. Another instruction session emphasised the importance of trauma awareness.
A special lunch was arranged, with catering provided by the Myanmar Deaf Chef Association, a non-profit founded by former Asian Trails’ staff member Maurizio Mandl. This initiative trains young deaf individuals, helping them to acquire the essential skills to secure employment in the hospitality sector. Although Maurizio passed away in 2019, his vision lives on through the dedicated people who continue to support and expand this important cause.
A highlight of the three-days was dinner at a scenic rooftop venue, where CEO Laurent Kuenzle congratulated the company’s longest-serving staff members – many of whom have been with Asian Trails for over 20 years. Many expressed their joy at continuing their roles within an inclusive and supportive environment.
