Land Services Contracting Manager | Malaysia & Singapore
About the role

The Land Contracting Services Manager at Asian Trails Malaysia plays a key role in managing land contracts (including transportation and excursions etc.). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality services, building strong supplier relationships and optimising costs to ensure the smooth functioning of the company’s operations, to the satisfaction of clients and partners. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the ideal candidate will become a part of a great team of travel professionals in Malaysia.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct negotiations and contracting of rates, special offers, allocations, release periods, overrides and terms and conditions from local suppliers, ensuring the best available rates and availability in the market;
  • Collaborate with our branch offices to ensure that Asian Trails works with the right suppliers and receives the best rates for their respective destinations;
  • Regular benchmarking of products and rates with competitors and online B2C products;
  • Carry out quality control of contracted products through regular site visits;
  • Ensure that the products contracted meet the requirements in terms of quality, Asian Trails Malaysia’s code of conduct for suppliers, health and safety requirements and Travelife standards;
  • Ensure that all contract, licenses, insurance, health and safety documentation and supplier code of conduct are signed and filed in an organised manner for easy reference;
  • Assist in arranging/negotiating deals for inspection visits for sales team and agents;
  • Assist in resolving complaints and administrative issues with suppliers;
  • Oversee and manage the Contracting Department for Land Services;
  • Ensure that the department complies with all internal requirement such as double signature on all contracts, proper documentation and filing for all requirements;
  • Provide training to new team members;
  • Assist the Product Development Manager in contracting the required components for any new product;
  • Ensure that proper training is carried out with the reservations/operations teams in collaboration with the Product Development team for any new suppliers/products.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in the hospitality and tourism industry;
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in travel & tourism industry;
  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role or management or supervisory positions;
  • Excellent command of English (both verbal and written) – is essential;
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and excellent computing skills;
  • Knowledge of Malaysia, Singapore and its destinations is a must;
  • Able to delegate, cooperate and coordinate with all concerned person and institutions within the travel industry;
  • Knowledge of the functions, operations and missions of the department;
  • The ideal candidate must be detailed-orientated, service-minded and have some experience in negotiations as well as a drive to exceed expectations;
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season;
  • A “Can Do” attitude, positive mindset and creative thinking is an asset.
