Sarawak launches new airline
Sarawak’s government has announced the launch of AirBorneo, making it the first state in Malaysia to own its own airline.
The new carrier will transform tourism opportunities on the third largest island in the world, with connections between major cities and remote areas in Sarawak and Sabah and plans to introduce international routes.
The lift-off follows the acquisition of MASwings, a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines. The transition of MASwings to AirBorneo is due for completion by the year-end of 2025.
Sarawak and Sabah are ultimate destinations for those with adventure in their hearts. UNESCO acclaimed Kinabalu Park has globally recognised biodiversity, cultural discovery includes stays with indigenous tribes and divers can explore some of the finest scuba spots on the planet.
