Unique cakes to honour New Year

With Vietnam’s Tet New Year celebrations just around the corner, the country is preparing to come alive with colourful decorations, lively flower markets and tempting festive foods.

One dish that has become synonymous with Tet is banh chung, a square sticky rice cake typically filled with mung beans, pork and other ingredients.

For a truly authentic Tet experience, Asian Trails offers guests the chance to visit a traditional village on the outskirts of Hanoi famed for producing delicious banh chung. Visitors can observe villagers preparing this festive treat and participate in the age-old tradition of wrapping the cakes in banana leaves before tasting the delicious results.

This experience is available during the week leading up to the first day of Tet, which this year falls on 29 January, 2025. For more details or to make a booking, contact Asian Trails Vietnam
