Business Development Manager (MICE) | Vietnam
About the role
This challenging role within our expanding MICE team in Ho Chi Minh City will work towards developing the business and creating long term value for the company by managing customers, markets and relationships. This role involves developing and implementing growth opportunities between Asian Trails and our partners.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for new and existing business development strategies and planning in both the leisure and MICE segment in the Spanish, Italian, French and Latin American markets);
- Identify and drive new sales opportunities across the MICE market;
- Spearhead initiatives and new trends suited for emerging targeted market segment;
- Maintain excellent business relationships with business partners across the globe;
- Manage and support the MICE Department and other colleagues with preparing quotations, itineraries and reservations;
- Ensure smooth communication and cooperation with incentive houses according to guidelines in reply time on all aspects of the customer’s travel needs;
- Negotiate MICE services in line with the requirements from the customer;
- Conduct appropriate follow-up practices, including upselling of additional services;
- Research and develop new products, venues and MICE related services;
- Foster good relationships with hotels/suppliers;
- Update backend information of venues, suppliers, accommodation and other services related to the MICE industry;
- Prepare pre-event inspection trips for project managers;
- Provide on-the-spot logistical, operational and customer support;
- Work closely with colleagues from other departments and offices within the Asian Trails Vietnam head office;
- Be an ambassador of Asian Trails Vietnam during trade shows, industry-related events and sales calls;
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the head of the department and management
Qualifications
- University / Bachelor’s degree in the hospitality and tourism industry;
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a travel & tourism company; experience in a similar position is a prerequisite;
- Proficiency in English (both verbal and written) is essential;
- Knowledge of Vietnam and its destinations;
- Able to delegate, cooperate and coordinate with all concerned persons and institutions within the travel industry;
- Experience with backend travel software is an advantage;
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and excellent computing skills;
- The ideal candidate must be detailed-orientated, service-minded, have some experience in negotiations and have a drive to exceed expectations;
- Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season.
- A “Can Do” attitude, positive mindset and creative thinking is an asset.
