Hidden village in Bangkok jungle revealed on new tour
To see an alternative side of Bangkok, a new Asian Trails’ excursion takes guests to Bang Krachao to meet the Bang Kobua community. These people live in an area of jungle on an artificial island formed by a bend in the Chao Phraya River.
The area is known as the capital’s ‘green lung’ as the expansive space provides an oasis of serenity close to the capital’s urban landscape of towering skyscrapers. The exploration reveals a location that resembles a provincial rural Thai village, with rustic wooden homes framed by dense overgrowth.
The itinerary includes a cycle ride to temples, traditional markets and the Khlong Bon Folk Museum, with lunch served in a local restaurant. This area contrasts massively with the built-up metropolis and it has to be seen to be believed.
