Remote region of Indonesia offers engaging ethnic culture
Tailored to your desires
High up in the mighty Jayawijaya Mountains in Indonesia’s easternmost Papua province lies the spectacular Baliem Valley.
Situated at an altitude of 1,900 metres, this is home to the Dani people, the most famous indigenous tribe in all of Papua. The Baliem Valley Resort is the ideal base from which to explore this fascinating region. Fifteen rustic bungalows designed in the traditional style of the honai huts of the Dani provide incentive travellers with an insight into ethnic culture. This includes the regional cuisine which is sourced from local organic Dani farms. The resort’s garden is another highlight, attracting wildlife including birds of paradise.
Only reachable by plane, this region is a true oasis of peace. Besides soaking in serenity, delegates can enjoy treks to Dani and Lani villages to witness a different way of living.
