TRAIL ITINERARY
08:00 - 13:00
To add to the sustainable theme of this tour, transportation from your booked accommodation to the meeting point is via public transport. With an extensive and highly efficiently running subway network, the ride to Yuen Long Station merges the theme of mingling with the locals even on this transfer. Your bicycles and guide for this morning tour are ready right at Yuen Long to start an encounter of little known Hong Kong. Ensuring that all fit well and caters to make this a comfortable ride will be taken up just before pedalling away.
Following the river banks of the Kam Tin River (3-lined lanes), the first stop will be made when the Sha Pui River hits our retinas. A small wooden ferry brings you and your bikes to the other side, called Nam Sang Wai. It is here where large the landscape turns into a green field of wafting weeds, ponds, and trees. When carefully watching, an abundance of wildlife (particularly birds) appears left and right.
The real cycling starts here; for two hours, we leisurely pedal around making ample stops to catch our breath or take pictures of the flora and fauna side of Hong Kong. En route, the vast marshlands, abandoned farms, mudflats and wetlands intersperse the quiet side – you will soon experience that this city is home to some fascinating natural landscapes, unbeknownst by many.
Via a well laid-out route, we head back to MTR Yuen Long Station where we drop off our bikes after enjoying a local lunch. The public transport ride on the West Rail back to Hong Kong Island’s busy streets and your hotel marks the end of an exhilarating morning.
